In an earlier post <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.bitsofgenius.com\/?p=996\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>, I described the problem of broad patents with no practical development of the idea itself. \u00a0There is a movement to get Congress to address the problem of patent abuse, which needs to continue, but this court case provides some immediate relief to the problem.<\/p>\n<p>Not only does the court case mentioned in the article solve this problem, but the solution goes further. It puts into question any patent for a software process which is simply placing an existing method into software.
